Alright, So this is a review that I meant to put out there a LONG Time ago, but my lazy bum forgot about it lol.
So a student of the social sciences, one of the things that is VERY important for us to learn is another language other than our native one quick. And learning another language is a serious brain exercise for anyone over the age of five.
Why is that you wonder? Well, in the first five years of life, the portions of our brain that pick up on things like diction(word choice) and syntax (word order) are like sponges so that we can quickly learn how to communicate and if need be, make up a new language!
But once you get past the age of five, it's like that door of easy learning gets slammed. And now you're grown up and thinking "I need to learn (insert language)."
There are the traditional language classes, but they are really depended on the teacher, their experiences and the other students in the class. I've taken Japanese from three different sensei's (teachers) and one was beyond amazing and I learned so much from her and the other two made me forget all that I learned.
I was lucky that I didn't have to pay for those classes, but it just goes to show you that taking a course in the classroom isn't always the best idea.
Programs like Rosetta Stone have recently been glamorized by T.V adds and shopping mall kiosk, but does it really work and is it worth the $500 price tag?
